Abstract
Title : The incidence of postpartum depression and associated risk factors in women who had childbirth in Sabzevar Mobini Hospital Background and Purpose : Today, postpartum mental disorders have important roles in psychology discussions. Among the most important of these disorders is "Postparum depression" that is diagnosed less than real. Since untreating this disorder lead to serious health problems for mother, newborn, family and even society; recognition of risk factors and also the increase of society knowledge are very important by the use of which necessary preparation are done with quick diagnosis. In addition, with respect to different results of many researches done in this field, the present research aims to consider risk factors and incidence of postpartum depression in women admitted in Sabzevar Mobini Hospital. Materials and Methods : This is a cohort study done to 400 women who had childbirth in Sabzevar Mobini Hospital in summer 1396. In this study, Edinburgh depression questionaire and a checklist includes some demographic variables and some obstetrics information were filled out by mothers in the first 6 hours after childbirth and in 6 weeks later. The data were analysed by SPSS 16 and we used T-Test, McNemar-Test and Chi-Squared Test. Results : According to Edinburgh point, the final results ( average score 4.99 in first stage and 7.43 in second stage ) show a general decrease of mother's temper in postpartum period which is of paramount importance. In addition, among variables, family economic conditions ( P-Value=0/026 ) and mother addiction ( P-Value=0/031 ) had a meaningful relation with depression. Conclusion : With respect to the relation between family economic condition and postpartum depression, it seems that if the society support the families especially in pregnancy and postpartum periods, depression disorders will be decreased. Also, the increase of mothers' knowledges in terms of not smoking in pregnancy period can play an important role.
