Abstract

Abstract Title: Assessment the effect of anxiety on gestational vomiting in pregnant women admitted in Mobini hospital Introduction and aim: Gestational nausea and vomiting is the most common digestive disorder during especially first half of pregnancy. That it can create many problems for pregnant women and their fetus. Also it imposes high costs to the community and healthcare system. Anxiety may cause this disorder. Therefore we decided to study the effect of anxiety on gestational vomiting. Material and methods: In this case control study, 214 pregnant women in 8 – 22 weeks' gestational age admitted in Sabzevar Mobini hospital. They were examined with standard Spielberger and demographic questionnaires and then divided in two groups (case and control) according to level of vomiting. The resulting data was analyzed with Spss22, Chi square, T test and logistic regression. Results: By reviewing the data was determined demographic factors in both the groups case and control were the same (p>0.05). But there was direct relationship between level of overt and covert anxiety and vomiting of pregnancy (p<0.05). Also past and familial vomiting of pregnancy can play a role in this complication too (p<0.05). Discussion and conclusion: Pregnant women genetics and anxiety character and anguish play important role in vomiting of pregnancy that is consistent with previous studies. So with emphasis on mental health of women of reproductive age we can reduce this complication of pregnancy. Keywords: overt and covert anxiety, demographic factors, vomiting of pregnancy
