Abstract
Backgrounds: Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease that is caused by destruction of melanocytes and is exhibited on the surface of skin in the form of the pigmented patches. The aim of this study is evaluation of serum level of vitD in patients with vitiligo in Sabzevar. Materials and Methods: The present study is case control and was done by simple random sampling on 138 persons (69 were vitiligo and 69 were healthy) who had visited at vasei clinic of sabzevar from esfand 95 to bahman 96 and had consent for this study. People of both case and control groups were similarihan healthy zed base of age and sex. In the process of selection the people of both groups attention was paid that they had no history of using vitD , autoimmune disease ,family history of vitiligo , orthopaedic surgery and rheumatismal disease. The serum level of vitD were checked and compared with each other. In order to evaluation of demographic situation such as age, sex and other variables check list was used. Findings were analized by spss20 software. Results: The average age of study was 25.97±18.6. based on our findings the average serum level of vitD in vitiligo patients was less than healthy people. With increased in patients age , serum level of vitD was increased (P=0.04, ρ=0.24).The average serum level of vitD had no meaningful difference among vitiligo patients based on sex(P=0.3),duration(P=0.51, ρ=0.11),location of skin lesion(face involvement (P=0.93) neck(P=0.34) body(P=0.7) extensor surfaces (P=0.44) periorificial(P=0.059) flexor surfaces (P=0.64) and Generalized (P=0.66). Discussion: This study shows that serum level of vitD in vitiligo patients is less than healthy people.
