Abstract

Introduction: This study is a systematic review to examine ways to teach under treatment children to control their anxiety.Methods: The databases used in this study are Google Scholar, Cochrane, PubMed, Scopus and Science Direct browsers. Search domain for the period between 2000 and 2016 is used. The papers in English and Farsi were selected and studied. Then, the search began with 1216 article, which eventually by reading the full text of 41 articles, 14 articles were selected.Results: As for the location of the selected papers, nine cases were reported in Iran and one in each of the countries of US, Britain, Germany, China and Brazil. Among these papers, play therapy technique was used in five cases; story book, pamphlet and face to face training method in two cases and storytelling, visual concept map, video, webTips as well as mental preparation program were all applied in one case. Most studies have shown that patient education methods reduce the anxiety level in children. Conclusion: According to the results of this case study, the impact of most training methods on patient�s anxiety is obvious, however, some strategies like pamphlet and face to face, have not a significant effect on children's anxiety. There is few studies around comparing between the effects of training methods on the anxiety level of the patients and in this section, more researches are needed to prove which method further reduces anxiety.
