Abstract

Risk factors related to the development of pelvic pain in pregnancy Background: During pregnancy 70 percent of women suffer of pelvic pain. A large number of scientists have reported on the existence and characteristic of the clinical syndrome of pelvic girdle pain during or after pregnancy. The physiological processes characterizing this clinical entity remain obscure. This study evaluates the risk factors for pelvic pain during pregnancy in Sabzevar city. Methods and Materials: This case-control study was done on 120 samples (40 cases and 80 controls), 10% of which were selected from the first trimester and 90% of the third trimester, In Mobin Sabzevar Hospital, which had inclusion criteria. Sampling was done in case and control groups. Demographic features, personal data and examinations were recorded and then analysed by STATA. Findings: The pregnant women with pelvic pain had 92.5% of the unemployed, 52.5% had a high school education. In the studies, 10% had a mild ligament laxity, 77.5% were urban residents. 92/5 percent did not mention the history of trauma to the pelvic girdle , 56.9 percent had no history of back pain in the previous pregnancy And 50% did not mention the history of low back pain before pregnancy, In sexual activity, people who had pelvic pain reported 25% of unsatisfactory sexual activity. The risk factors for developing pelvic girdle pain and back pain in general are history of previous low back pain or pelvic or pain in previous pregnancy and unsatisfactory sexual activity. No association was found between residence, smoking, ligament laxity and pelvic girdle pain ( P< /05 ). Conclusion: Pelvic pain is a major health problem that to solve this problem, an alternative should be considered. To reduce the pain accurate diagnosis based on risk factors to prevent complications of pelvic pain during and after pregnancy. Key words: Pelvic pain, Pregnancy, Risk factor.
