Abstract

Background and Objective: today self-efficiency beliefs are considered as one of the most important and principal factors in determination human behaviors. Self-efficiency is the mediator between knowledge and its practice and improves medical performance of nursing students. One of the most important effective factors on self-efficiency is happiness, because it reinforces positive self-concept in people. This study aims on studying the effectiveness of happiness training on general self-efficiency of nursing students. Methods and Materials: this experimental study was conducted on 200 nursing students in Sabzevar Medical Sciences University who were sampled by stratified random sampling method. Samples were randomly divided into 2 control and test groups. Then, tests were conducted for 8 weeks, each week one two-hour session of happiness training for test group. The used instrument in this study was demographic data form, Oxford happiness inventory, and Sherer general self-efficacy scale. The pre-test, post-test, and track test were conducted after 2 months. Data was statistically analyzed using SPSS software, descriptive statistical tests, and GEE method. Findings: in the present study, happiness training increased students’ self-efficiency score significantly in test group than control group. In addition, students’ happiness score increased significantly after interruption (P≤ 0.05). Among the demographic variables, only the mean had positive and significant relationship with self-efficiency increase. Conclusion: according to the results of this study, happiness training increases general self-efficiency in nursing students. Hence, according to the importance of self-efficiency in doing the learnt skills by nursing students, the collection of the learnt technics in this method can be used to increase happiness and self-efficiency in nursing students.
