Abstract
The effect of educational intervention based on BASNEF model and health belief model constructs on promoting preventive behaviors of cutaneous leishmaniasis among students of Neyshabur city (2016) Introduction: Leishmaniasis, common in humans and animals, are present all over the world. Preventive measures such as education and awareness raising and preventive skills for individual protection in endemic areas are one of the most important strategies for controlling cutaneous leishmaniasis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of educational intervention based on the BASNEF model and health belief model on promoting preventive behaviors in cutaneous leishmaniasis in students of Neyshabour city in 1395. Materials & Method: This experimental study was conducted in two groups of control and control. The population of this study was secondary school students in Neishabour in the academic year of 1995-96 who were selected by multistage cluster sampling. The data gathering tool was a researcher-made questionnaire based on all the constructs of the health belief model and the BASNEF model. Participants completed questionnaires before the intervention. After collecting data in the pretest, data analysis was performed by SPSS23 software. The most important predictive constructs of the preventive behaviors of cutaneous leishmaniasis were identified in these two models. Then, the sample was randomly divided into two experimental groups (68) And control (68 people). Educational content was designed based on the most important predictive constructs of preventive behaviors of cutaneous leishmaniasis (Salek) and educational intervention was performed for the experimental group. Two months after the intervention, the two groups were followed up and completed the questionnaires again. Finally, the data were analyzed using SPSS-23 software, statistical tests, Fisher's exact test, regression, correlation, analysis of variance and mixed models. Results: The results showed that perceived benefits, self-efficacy and guidance for action in the health belief model were 23.7%, and attitudes and factors influencing the BASNEF model, 31.6% of the behavioral intentionality variance predicted the preventive behaviors of cutaneous leishmaniasis. In addition, the results showed that there was a significant difference between the mean score of perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, self-efficacy and guidance for action in the health belief model (apart from the perceived barriers structure), as well as the significant difference between mean scores Knowledge, attitude, abstract norms, behavioral intention, enabling factors and behavior in the BASNEF model were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group after intervention (p <0/05). Discussion: The results showed that the design of educational intervention based on health belief model and BASNEF model can be an effective strategy for promoting preventive behaviors of cutaneous leishmaniasis in students. Also, according to the results, in developing preventive behaviors of cutaneous leishmaniasis, affecting perceived benefits, self-efficacy, attitude, and guidance for action, people's intent to promote preventive behaviors for leishmaniasis can be promoted, which can be modulated and influenced by factors that can Provides the basis for the prevention of leishmaniasis in schoolchildren.
